Buying is one screen and four numbers: which share, how many, at what price, and for how long. Everything else is confirmation.
Your first order will take five minutes. After that, one minute.
| The word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Lot | 100 shares. The quantity box is labelled Qty. (x100), so typing 1 buys 100 shares and typing 10 buys 1,000. |
| Limit price | The most you are willing to pay. The order will not fill above it. Set it too low and nothing happens; set it at the market price and it usually fills at once. |
A share quoted at RM 0.330 with a Sell queue at 0.335 means sellers are asking 0.335. Bid 0.330 and you wait. Bid 0.335 and you are likely filled straight away.

Tap the red UTRADE 3 icon. Log in with the user ID UOB Kay Hian gave you.
The app opens on the Market tab: the index, a heat map, and the most active shares. Nothing here places an order.

Tap the magnifying glass, then type the name or the four-digit code.
The screenshot shows a search for “panda”. Three results come back on three different exchanges.
Read the exchange tag on the left. BM is Bursa Malaysia. SZSE and SSE are China. A wrong tag means the wrong company on the wrong market.

The big number is the last traded price: 0.330 here.
In the Market Depth panel, the left side is buyers and the right side is sellers. Sellers are asking 0.335. That is the price that fills immediately.
Press Buy. Nothing is bought yet — this opens the order form.

Leave Order Type on Normal and Limit. Then three numbers and a date rule.

Send does not place the order on its own. The app asks for your Trading Pin first.
Before you type the pin, run your eye over the form once more.
Type the pin and press Ok. This is the point of no return.

Order submitted successfully means the order reached the market. It does not mean you own the shares yet.
Tap To Order Status to go straight to the list and see what happened.

The status column is the only place that tells you where you stand.
Queued in the market, waiting for a seller at your price. You do not own the shares.
Done. You bought the shares — here, 100 at 0.335. This is the word you are waiting for.
Nobody sold at your price before the close. Nothing was bought and no money moved. Place it again, or raise your price.

Tap any line in Order Status and it expands. Everything about the order is here: your price, order quantity, matched quantity, average price, validity, expiry, and the status in words at the bottom.
Matched Qty is the number that matters. If it reads 0, nothing has been bought yet, whatever else the screen says.

Buying is the easy half. The decision that protects the account is the price at which you admit the trade did not work. Decide it now, while you are calm, and let the app enforce it.
Open the stop loss guide1,000 in the Qty. (x100) box is 100,000 shares. Count in lots, and check the Trade Amount on the preview.
Confirmed only means the order is queued. Matched is the word that means you own it.
The order does not fill, so you raise the price, again and again. Set the price you decided on and let it queue. If it never fills, that is an answer too.
Two companies with similar names, one letter apart. Read the four-digit code on the preview before you send.
Brokerage, stamp duty and clearing fees come on top of the Trade Amount. On very small orders they matter more than the price you argued over.
If you cannot say at what price you would sell, you are not trading, you are hoping. Set the stop loss.
